Bug #1469
UTF8 Emojis push text downwards
0%
Description
Attached is a screenshot of what it looks like.
Using 0.13-pre, at least on macOS, emojis push the entire text line downwards, rendering it illegible because the emojis are rendered too big. I believe the entire line gets taller on other systems while it shouldn't.

Over a year later, I'm noticing this issue on the Windows client. Looks to be the same symptoms: A unicode emoji larger than the normal text is causing the line of text to be pushed down, but nothing compensates for it, rendering the subsequent line partially unreadable. Screenshot attached.

I would like to note that this affects many non-English character sets in general, not only emoji. This prevents the Quassel client from correctly displaying, for example, lines of text containing CJK characters.
This problem may be limited to monospace fonts.
