Actually this seems to be an older bug, but became more apparent with the newly-added backlog functionality in the chat monitor. If you configure the chat monitor to ignore selected buffers, this configuration does not work.
I've set it to ignore the network buffers of all networks I'm connected to, plus "NickServ" on Freenode, however, the chat monitor still includes messages from these buffers.
