Description

Looking at screenshots like http://quassel-irc.org/node/104 and http://quassel-irc.org/node/41 it's clearly possible to have Quassel display two different channels at once, in different panes. However, I cannot for the life of me work out how to do it.

Things I've tried, with results:

  • Grabbing the window edge between the channel title and the channel pane, and dragging it down. (Result: Cursor turns into a horizontal line with up-down arrows, but I can't drag.)
  • Dragging the channel title around. (Result: It detaches.)
  • Right-clicking the channel names in the left pane to see if there's a pop-up menu option to show multiple channels at once. (No, there isn't.)
  • Right-clicking the main channel pane to see if there's a pop-up menu to split the pane. (No, there isn't.)
  • Clicking and dragging a channel name from the left pane, hoping I could drop it on the middle channel pane. (No, I can't.)
  • Right-clicking the divider between the channel title and the channel content pane, to see if there's a split option in the contextual menu there. (No again.)
  • Looking through the configuration/preferences to see if there's an obvious option to turn on multi-pane support. (If there is, I couldn't see it.)
  • Looking in the help menu for help. (There isn't any.)
  • Looking on the Quassel web site for documentation on how to use the client. (There isn't any.)
  • Clicking the white rectangular gadget top right of the channel content/title panes. (It lets me edit the title.)
  • Looking in the view menu for some sort of "Split" or "Show multiple channels" option. (There isn't one.)

So I give in. How do I get multiple channel panes at once, as shown in all the screenshots?

Version is 0.7.1 on Kubuntu 10.10. Opening this because it seems like there's a fairly major UI issue here, if I can't work it out after trying all of the above.
